Nayeli is a young girl who lives in one of the poorest areas of Leon, Nicaragua with her mother and three sisters Jamilath, Sofia and Marcia. Nayeli’s mother left her father due to abuse and later remarried. Sadly Nayeli’s step father abandoned the family and it has been a struggle to make ends meet.
Because of Sponsorship through Project Hope Worldwide Nayeli is safe, has nutritious meals, attends school, has access to medical attention and receives spiritual/character mentorship. Nayeli entered school very late but is working hard to catch up and excels in math.

Léon is the second largest city in Nicaragua. The country is considered the second poorest in the Western Hemisphere. 80% of its people live on less than $2 a day and the infant mortality rate is 25%. Years of war between the Sandanistas and the Contras combined with failed government policies have severely hindered their economic development. Project Hope Worldwide is holistically caring for orphans, partnering with schools, supplementing medical care, and providing spiritual and character mentorship, in one of the poorest areas of Léon.
