About Shary

Born: September 2010

Shary is a young girl who lives in one of the poorest areas of Leon, Nicaragua with her mother and sister Dayana. It has been a struggle for the family to make ends meet.

Before Sponsorship through Project Hope Worldwide Shary and her sister Dayana would dig in the dump to look for items to sell. Now at Project Hope Worldwide Shary is safe, has nutritious meals, attends school, has access to medical attention and receives spiritual/character mentorship. Shary enjoys school and hopes to become a teacher when she grows up.

Leon, Nicaragua

Léon is the second largest city in Nicaragua. The country is considered the second poorest in the Western Hemisphere. 80% of its people live on less than $2 a day and the infant mortality rate is 25%. Years of war between the Sandanistas and the Contras combined with failed government policies have severely hindered their economic development. Project Hope Worldwide is holistically caring for orphans, partnering with schools, supplementing medical care, and providing spiritual and character mentorship, in one of the poorest areas of Léon.
