Sidney is a girl who lives in one of the poorest areas of León, Nicaragua with her mother and two older siblings, Nahomi and Eduardo. Sidney’s father abandoned the family and provides no support. Sidney’s mother has worked hard to put herself through school to better her family’s circumstance but with recent civil unrest she is unable to find employment. Sidney is excited to be in school and loves to play with her friends.

Because of Sponsorship through Project Hope Worldwide Sidney is safe, has nutritious meals, attends school, has access to medical attention and receives spiritual/character mentorship.

Leon, Nicaragua

León is the second largest city in Nicaragua. The country is considered the second poorest in the Western Hemisphere. 80% of its people live on less than $2 a day and the infant mortality rate is 25%. Years of war between the Sandanistas and the Contras combined with failed government policies have severely hindered their economic development. Project Hope Worldwide is holistically caring for orphans, partnering with schools, supplementing medical care, and providing spiritual and character mentorship, in one of the poorest areas of León.
